Rap-HipHop
Friday March 27th: Euthnasia Hip Hop Dance 9:00PM
Friday, February 13th – Pep Love
| American rapper and one of the founding members of the Oakland, California-based underground hip hop collective Hieroglyphics. With a unique lyrical style and delivery, Pep Love has been making major moves in the hip hop community for over a decade. |
August 23rd – SunSpot Jonz
| SunSpot Jonz from Living Legends
His lyrics resonate with the revolutionary mindset of our nation’s youth culture:”Sun-shh for Sunspot Jonz Underground legend bones Almost broke trying build this underground heaven We are lights of a passage Be alert Be about work And penetrate while others hate Yo, they instigate We translate Verbal codes into lyrical states” |
August 23rd – Rise of the Revolution
| Rise of the Revolution is music that speaks the truth, with strong political lyrics, backed by catchy, creative, and original sounding beats. Music that touches on every emotion and encourages standing up for what you believe in. Although influenced by many different artists in many different genres, the two have seemed to find their own unique hip hop sound. The focus of Rise of the Revolution is to pursue creative music as a form of art with a positive message. The music is the sounds for life and being true. Speak out, rise up, and stand. The live performance that has been regarded as loud, powerful, and rowdy, the two seem to always feel comfortable on stage. The Prophet and Nima Fadavi both on the mic’s, while Nima plays the organ and the beats live also.

June 29th: Momo Smitt Live from Wave Street Studios
He has written over 100 songs, released 4 full-length CD’s and, get this, he’s 20! He has been selling his CD’s “out the backpack,” and is planning the release of his fifth full-length album “Soulprints” for the end of August. His first CD Love Raps displays his budding talent and is fiery throughout. The 2nd CD, Myself From Killing Me is an eclectic mix containing one of my favorites The Fabrics where he touches on many tough global issues. His 3rd CD The Rain exhibits a quantum jump in professionalism:, he’s honed his skill with polished lyrics and a steadily increasing ability to accurately portray his experiences (both past and present). Good & Ego, Momo’s 4th available CD allows for us to hear how he has progressed not only musically but in terms of production. His lyrics are consistently rigorous, but that’s not to intimate that listening is not pleasurable; it is! Though his music is categorized as hip-hop, he has performed with numerous bands in the Ashland, Oregon area, such as The Frankie Hernandez Band, The T Club, and Indubious, whose rock and reggae backgrounds expand the sounds of Momo’s rapid-fire lyricism.
| Check him out at www.myspace.com/momosmitt or better yet, come to a local performance. June 29th Wave Street Studios, Monterey; July 1st East Village Café; Monterey. July 2nd, Momo will be performing at Santa Cruz Community Counseling Center, and on July 3rd, he will be at Camp Recovery Center in Scotts Valley and later at Monterey Youth Center as part of the outreach effort of Community Human Services. The performance at Wave Street Studios will be taped and will be available to watch at livenetworks.tv.So, that’s Momo, the socially-conscious very intellectual hip hop artist currently based out of Southern Oregon who will be back in his hometown of PG on the 28th for a week of whirlwind performances. His music is based on personal growth, recovery, and he doesn’t shy away from charged issues such as politics, corporate power and even the environment. You might find you like hip-hop after all…”Fast-fired and filled with soul introspection, Smitt’s work can be quite high-concept…The intellectual and dynamic capacity of his work is stunning.”-Mark A. Curci; Ashland Daily Tidings Correspondent |
