You are invited to John Steinbeck’s 107th Birthday Party.The festivities will be hosted by Kalisa Moore and Wave Street Studios just off Cannery Row. Doors open at 6:00 PM with Steinbeck’s traditional meal of soup, bread, friends and libations.Followed at 7PM with a performance of “Woody Gutherie and John Steinbeck” and “Even Now” portrayed by Steve Mortensen and Taelen Thomas.
Michael Hemp, local historian, will present a slide show called “The History of Cannery Row”. By official proclamation by the State of California February 27th is John Steinbeck Day, honoring and celebrating America’s most renown writer since 1995. |

John Steinbeck is my favorite writer. I love Grapes of Wrath..and I am very sorry I did not know about this great performance. I hope I will find other opportunities to commemorate Steinbeck´s greatness.
